| Claggan House, Portadown, Co Armagh |
This new farm house was a sensitive replacement of a typical ‘longhouse’ farm dwelling common to many farms in Ireland and Scotland. The decision was made to replace the existing house which was in a state of poor repair. The new dwelling is on the footprint of the previous house but takes account of the view and has a contemporary family living / kitchen / dining annex to the rear. The original cluster of farm outbuildings has been retained adding to the sense of character of the new dwelling house and integrating the new build with the site. |
