BA Degree Architecture from Heriot Watt University, Edinburgh College of Art (1989)

Corporate Member of Royal Institute of British Architects Heriot Watt University Edinburgh (1997)

Master Degree in Urban Design, Heriot Watt University Edinburgh (1999)

Established ‘Paul McAlister Chartered Architect’ Practice, August 2002. Part time lecturing at Belfast Metropolitan College 2002-2005.

Royal Society of Architects diploma in Project management and Member of the Association of Project Management (2004).

In 2010 Paul McAlister becomes the first Person in Northern Ireland to be accredited as Certified European Passive House Designer (CEPH) from the Passive house Institute in Germany.

SAP energy rating Assessor through the Stroma Certification’s ABBE-approved scheme (2010)

Winner of RSUA Sustainability category for Crest Pavilion, Enniskillen (2016)

In 2017 Paul McAlister appointed Chair person of the Passive House Association of Ireland (PHAI), a not-for-profit organisation with close links to the Passive House Institute in Germany.

Other interests include travelling, sport, cycling and the great outdoors. In 2003 qualified as referee with Ulster Society of Rugby Football Referees.
