Criteria: This family dwelling was designed to achieve the rigorous Passivhaus standard and represents the first Certified Passive House which the office completed in 2013. The main living spaces, the kitchen and the double-height living room, have been designed with south-facing glazing to maximise heat gain from the sun. The balcony feature from the master bedroom acts not only as a feature but as a design tool to provide appropriate shading in summer to prevent overheating. This modern Passivhaus is situated in a cluster of traditional farmyard buildings and its design integrates into the surrounding context.
