Glasdrummund House, Co. Armagh

Location: Middletown, Co. Armagh

Size: 3000 sqft

Criteria: This family dwelling was designed for a rural context replacing an existing derelict dwelling that was situated in a natural recess in the landscape with trees and hills to the rear and a valley to the front. The house was designed to make the most of the view facing east, whilst the south side of the site was also opened up to the South and evening sun. The site creates a natural courtyard and the assembly of building heights are reminiscent of the traditional ‘claggan’ of the Irish countryside.
