Work in Progress : Beach Haven House - Spring 2021

This house is situated on the side of the main road within a minutes’ drive of the centre of Rosses Point, Co Sligo.

The original concept for the house was a Beech House where the relaxed symmetry of the traditional beech house would be replicated with the new dwelling which is less than 100m from the sea.

The site has a natural change in level and this led to the early design decision to have a split-level dwelling. This added to the relaxed nature of the two beach houses placed adjacent to one another.

Our client, who is an artist, asked for a dedicated studio space facing north whilst the main living dining and kitchen space are beneath a vaulted roof forming the single-story part of the house.

This space is flooded with light from a large openable south facing window and roof lights.
